Supporting Your Perinatal Journey

Our mission is to strengthen the perinatal support systems for Asian families in the NYC area by being a valued information resource. The ABC-NYC community supports, honors, and celebrates the diversity of Asian birthing families and experiences. While there is no single “Asian” experience of birth, ABC-NYC recognizes that the needs of Asian/Asian-American birthing families may be different than those of non-Asian families in terms of cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic factors.

The Birth of ABC-NYC

As experienced birth workers and advocates, Summer Si and Janel Martir witnessed the need for culturally-competent care for Asian and Asian-American birthing families. They saw the need for a space that honored the diversity of Asian birth experience and traditional Asian practices that also provided language-accessible support. The Asian Birth Collective of NYC (ABC-NYC) was launched in 2025 as a virtual resource that connects Asian birthing families to Asian perinatal providers.
